We've always dreamed of crafting notebooks from our distinctive leather, with the idea that the book cover develops a unique character over time, making it not just the content that's personal. After extensive research, we found Matthias Büttner and his brand X47, a specialist from Germany who has developed a patented calendar system and much more. His products are the result of his profound exploration of self-leadership, which he has also documented in various publications. We share his enthusiasm for handwriting in the digital age.

  • Spring clip made of high-quality stainless steel with Swiss watchmaker precision, made in Switzerland. The notebooks feature a stainless steel tube on the spine and are slotted into the spring clip. The difference lies in their ease of writing and the convenience of swiftly and effortlessly changing the inserts.
  • Handcrafted at the headquarters of X47 in Saarbrücken, Germany. A family-owned business specialising in the production and processing of high-quality leather and paper since 1987.
  • Vegetable-tanned leather from a family-run tannery in Belgium that has been producing high-quality leather since 1873 and has been awarded the Gold Standard certificate by the Leather Working Group.
  • The high-quality, ink-resistant paper has been specifically developed by X47 and originates from a renowned paper mill in France. Weighing 65g and comprising 61 pages, it meets the highest standards.

I've loved notebooks for many years. It fascinates me that when I write down my thoughts or sketch ideas, I feel that they become relevant and embedded in my mind.

It has always been a dream of mine to include notebooks in our collection. Perhaps now is the perfect time, as analogue actions are becoming more relevant in a digital context. After filling many large, heavy leather-bound books, I was looking for a smaller and lighter version.

In December last year, I did some research and thought I had found what I was looking for at the X47 brand in Saarbrücken. I was so excited that I got in my car and set off without making an appointment. After driving 530 km, I parked my car in the city centre and cycled to X47; it was freezing cold, around -10°C. But the reception was the exact opposite. However, the reception was the exact opposite. I had the opportunity to meet a passionate and ingenious entrepreneur, a friendly and dedicated team and an excellent product. We exchanged ideas and thought ahead.
